Cedar Plank Salmon

A classic Pacific Northwest preparation where salmon slowly roasts on a cedar plank, absorbing gentle wood smoke and finished with a maple Dijon glaze. Simple, aromatic, and perfect for the grill or oven.

Cedar Plank Salmon

Serves: 2–3
Time: 25 minutes (plus plank soaking time)

Ingredients

1 cedar plank (untreated)
1 side salmon, skin on (about 1.5–2 lbs)
2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt
Freshly cracked black pepper
Lemon slices
Fresh dill or parsley

Optional sides
Roasted potatoes or rice
Grilled asparagus or green beans

Instructions

Soak the plank

Soak cedar plank in water for 1–2 hours. Keep it submerged by placing a small weight on top.

Make the glaze

In a small bowl, mix maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic, olive oil (or butter), salt, and pepper.

Prepare the salmon

Pat salmon dry and place skin-side down on the soaked cedar plank. Brush generously with the maple Dijon glaze and top with lemon slices and fresh herbs.

Cook the salmon

Preheat grill to 375–400°F. Place the cedar plank directly on the grill grates, close the lid, and cook for 12–18 minutes
